water level

Proposal for a permanent public artwork for Lethbridge, Alberta 2014

One of three proposals shortlisted for on-site presentations

WATER LEVEL provides the visitors to the Oldman River Valley with a new vantage point to not only perceive and appreciate the surrounding landscape but to more fundamentally understand its force and mutability. The project consists of a prefabricated metal stairway that climbs the height of 28.1 feet, corresponding to the highest recorded flood level of 1995. The flood level of every year on record is marked on the step corresponding to the depth of the river at that time and the recording of each year's water level can become an annual community event.
